The Wildling Art Museum is pleased to announce its summer 2008 exhibition, Endangered Species: Flora and Fauna in Peril. This exhibition represents the Museum's first international juried art competition, with 50 artworks selected from nearly 200 entries.
The artworks use a variety of media (drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture) to depict flora and fauna listed as threatened or endangered in North America by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Over 47 species are represented, among them the California condor, northern spotted owl, grizzly bear, black-footed ferret, Oahu tree snail, Sonora tiger salamander, Mesa Verde cactus, and Texas wild-rice.
For children, the Wildling offers a folded activity sheet called "The Fox Hunt" with each of the four exhibitions displayed during the year. Each "Fox Hunt" is designed to engage children in the current exhibition and stimulate conversations about the pieces on display with parents, grandparents, siblings, and/or the docent.
The Wildling Art Museum is an educational institution dedicated to presenting the art of America's wilderness and preserving our natural heritage. The museum is located in the town of Los Olivos in California's beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, 30 miles from the city of Santa Barbara

Drawn from the rich archive at the John Kobal Foundation in London, this exhibition focuses on the stars, the sets and the scenes created by the film industry and memorialized by the most important photographers who worked in Hollywood from 1920-1960. From the silent era through the end of the studio system in the late 1950s, camera artists captured and created the magic that Hollywood symbolized. Featuring more than 90 images, Made in Hollywood offers a glimpse into the world of fantasy, glamour and perfection that the image makers produced.

Ragtime, the Musical, an epic tale of a young America played out in song and dance: It paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of life at the turn of the twentieth century. The musical intertwines three distinct stories that poignantly illustrate history’s timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and love and hate. The Tony Award-winning score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Seussical) is just as diverse as the “Melting Pot of America” that it seeks to recreate, drawing upon traditional Jewish folk sounds, Vaudeville’s outrageous style, and Scott Joplin to invoke the enlivened spirit of Harlem.
Ragtime plays the Marian Theatre from July 10 through the 26th then the Festival Theater from August 1 through the 24th.
Featured is Equity Guest Artist David St. Louis whose credits include Broadway productions of Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar and Harlem Song, numerous regional credits and TV appearances on Law and Order, One Life to Live, and Trigger Effect. Mr. St. Louis will be playing Coalhouse Walker Jr.
