WHO, WHAT & WHY:
Students will have an opportunity to mature socially with their peers while learning the latest dances and social etiquette in an 8 week, Friday night series. We are here to inspire confidence while teaching formal etiquette and social skills.
We offer a combined 5th-8th grade class, Junior Cotillion, and a combined high school through 12th grade class, Cotillionaires. Each class is 1 hour in length with 45minutes of dance instruction/dance time and 15minutes of refreshment and etiquette.
The 8th class is a family Gala event with potluck contribution from each family and mini dance instruction with the parents/guardians.
Our teachers Ken and Miye Ota have been instructing Cotillion classes in the Goleta/Santa Barbara area for over 48 years. Mr. and Mrs. Ota received their initial training with Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Ken went on to be the first man in the U.S. to get the highest Arthur Murray student credentials, Triple Gold Star and Gold Bar. The Otas were certified through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).
Cotillion leader, Neal Erickson, has been dancing at the Ota's Cotillion for the last 10 years. Having gone through many Cotillion classes himself, Neal can relate to children of all ages easily.
