Founded in 1925, the Junior League of SB is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. We reach out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism. Proceeds from its fundraising events benefit the Junior League and its projects, local charities that help families at risk.

MOMS meets on Tuesday, twice per month, from 9:15 to 11:15 at Ventura Missionary Church. There is a $3.50 per week charge to attend (speaker and craft) and $1.50 per child for child care. "Our purpose is to provide women with a time to develop friendships, to receive encouragement in our roles as wives and mothers, and to be instructed on topics that relate to homemaking and child rearing. Nursery care is provided during the entire program with a pre-school program for 2-5 year olds." We enjoy a light breakfast, listen to a speaker and do a craft.
MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers (moms with kids birth- kindergarten) meets bi-monthly during the school year. We gather over food, listen to speakers, have small group discussion and creative activity time. Join us for a refreshing, encouraging and nurturing time during this season of mothering.

Fredda Spirka's classes are designed for the pregnant months and beyond... She offers 2 classes per week.
The first one is on Monday nights at the Gibian Wellness Center (1522 State Street) and is a combination of yoga, guided imagery, and childbirth education. Call for the cost of prenatal packages.
The second class is taught through the adult education venue and includes pregnant women as well as mothers and new babies from birth to crawling. This class features rich discussion in birthing concerns and new parenting skills. For parents of newborns 0-4 months: Santa Barbara New Parent Discussion Group meets from 10-noon on Wednesdays at Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of La Cumbre Rd & Foothill (parking lot access on La Cumbre Rd). Groups start every two months and go for 10 weeks. After the initial 10 weeks, parents continue to meet weekly, usually at a park or at each other's homes. Our Warmline is a free 24-hour service that provides confidential one-on-one support from trained parent volunteers. From basic infant care to breast or bottle feeding issues to postpartum adjustment, the Warmline can be a great source of information and support. Call (805) 564-3888.
Support group for wives of Law Enforcement Officers within Santa Barbara County. We meet county wide one time per month and offer support via an online forum. We want to support wives and the children of LEO's through education, encouragement and various activities for the whole family.
The Santa Barbara Newcomers Club was founded in 1955 and has grown with time to over 400 members. We are a non-profit organization, an active part of the Santa Barbara and surrounding communities, and are recognized as one of the premiere organizations of its type in the country. The mission of SB Newcomers is to help members make new friends and to learn about the many social, cultural, and civic opportunities in this wonderful community. Members volunteer to organize and run all sorts of activities for other Newcomers and themselves. The best way for members to get to know people is to become involved with one or more of Newcomers Activity Committees and to participate in their monthly, weekly, and even more frequent gatherings and events.
This group is for parents of twins, triplets and more. There is a bi-monthly online newsletter, great online discussion forums, monthly activities and events including clothing exchanges and holiday parties and a New Parents Group which meets monthly specifically for expectant parents & parents whose multiples are one year or younger.
Weekly playgroups for children newborn to 5 years and their parent(s). We meet outdoors at various local parks for fun, socialization, and support. It's a great energy outlet for kids and a great support network for parents. In addition, we occasionally organize special events, such as a Mom's Night Out dinner or a trip to the water park. You can join anytime and there is no fee.
